My mom maintains a number of bird feeders, which attract the local wildlife. We get a lot of squirrels, but also a lot of dark-eyed juncos and house sparrows. I’d never been to see fireworks on the Esplanade, so this year on the 4th of July some friends and I went to watch them. The fireworks were pretty, but something about the whole situation felt ominous.
