Another close-up of the bead curtain, showing the sun shining through the transparent orange plastic.

I finished this bead curtain from prescription bottles in September 2022. A “portière” is a curtain that goes over a door. I’ve never seen prescription bottle art like this anywhere else. If you know of any, please send it to me! I would love to see it.

Here’s what I had to say about this piece in 2022:

I saved several years’ worth of prescription bottles to make this retro bead curtain. I knew that orange had decorative potential!

I had to learn some new skills to make this. I have to say I’m happy with the result.

Thanks to Technocopia — couldn’t have made this without your table saw and community!

A bead curtain made from sliced up prescription bottles is hanging in a window. Strings of orange beads and plastic rings (the slices) hang in an arched shape. The top of the curtain is a small piece of wood with a white scalloped border made from halved prescription bottle lids. The sun is shining through the window. An intact prescription bottle sits on the window sash.
A close-up of the scalloped white top of the bead curtain. Text on the lids is visible — things like “FLU SHOTS SAVE LIVES” and “go mobile”.
